The Last ANZACS
On 25 April 1915, at Gallipoli, the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) embarked on a mission that would become legendary. The spirit of ANZAC, embodying mateship, courage, strength in adversity, and selflessness, has since become an integral part of the ethos of both nations.
The Last ANZACS coin pays tribute to those who fought for our freedom. Designed by Wojciech Pietranik, the reverse features a gently frosted portrait of an ANZAC soldier standing proud against a polished background.
International Year of the Older Persons
In 1999, the United Nations declared the International Year of Older Persons, and Australians embraced the theme 'Australia - towards a society of all ages'. This theme is especially relevant in an ageing Australia, highlighting the importance of fostering intergenerational activities and understanding to create a balance between tradition and innovation in economic, social, and cultural development.
The logo on the International Year of Older Persons coin in this set has great symbolic significance, emphasizing vitality, diversity, and interdependence. The image illustrates movement and progression.
