Celebrate two centuries of dedication and resilience with this special Postal Numismatic Cover (PNC) commemorating 200 years of Australia Post. Through times of triumph and turmoil, postal workers have been the backbone of communication and connection across the nation.
At the heart of this tribute is Isaac Nichols, a former convict who became Australia’s first postmaster on April 25, 1809. His remarkable story is immortalized in this coin, featuring a stunning coloured reverse design. The artwork, originally created by R. Shackel from the Postmaster General’s Department in Melbourne, was the inspiration for the 1959 commemorative stamp issued on the 150th anniversary of the Australian Post Office.
