The Merino ram’s head design adorns the reverse of all the Royal Australian Mint’s 2011 mintmark, privy mark, and counterstamp coins. This design, originally created by George Kruger Gray, featured on the Australian shilling from 1938 to 1963. It was modeled after a grand champion Merino ram from the 1932 Sydney Sheep Show, renowned for the distinctive positioning of its head and horns. Named Uardry 0.1 after its home station, the ram became popularly known as the ‘Shilling Ram’. The reintroduction of this design commemorates the Australian wool industry and highlights the nation's reliance on primary industry throughout its economic history. This powerful coin design uniquely bridges the old pre-decimal currency with the current decimal currency.

The coin with the “A” counterstamp was produced on our mobile press at the Adelaide Australian Numismatic Dealer Association Show.

It will be presented in a cardboard holder, which includes information on the history of the ram’s head design."
