The Merino ram’s head design appears on the 2011 $1 uncirculated ‘C’ mintmark and this year's privy mark coins for Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. This design, which adorned the Australian shilling from 1938 to 1963, was inspired by a grand champion Merino ram from the 1932 Sydney Sheep Show. Known for the exceptional positioning of its head and horns, this ram was named Uardry 0.1 after its home station, but it soon became famous as the ‘Shilling Ram.’ This iconic image symbolizes Australia’s historic reliance on primary industry throughout its economic history
