NAIDOC, the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee, has a significant history since the 1920s. In 2024, it proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary, having made an enduring impact on Indigenous peoples' rights, awareness, and culture. Initially formed through church groups boycotting Australia Day in protest of the treatment of Indigenous Australians, NAIDOC has since grown to National NAIDOC Week. This annual event, held in the first full week of July, is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture and achievements, with its celebrations and events for First Nations' rights, history, and culture. NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
