Since its first appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977, the X-wing has become one of the most iconic space vehicles in the galaxy and holds a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans around the world. From its instantly recognisable visage to the myriad of action-packed scenes in which it appears, the X-wing remains an integral part od Star Wars folklore to this day. Join us as we celebrate this beloved spacecraft with a UK coin inspired by the Rebel Alliance's trusty X-wing.

The design of the X wing can be traced back to the arc-170 and z-95 Headhunter utilised during Wars, both of which bear a strong resemblance to the X-wing. Both are considered forerunners to the iconic X-wing that would follow.

The reverse of the coin depicts this beloved starfighter right down to the finest detail, from the sensor array on the nose to the thrust engines surrounding the cockpit and the laser cannons on the tips of the wings. The imagery was taken directly from the official Lucasfilm library and accurately recreated by our Product Design team using advanced laser technology.
