In traditional Chinese culture, the dragon is revered as a divine creature and potent symbol of power, strength, wealth and good fortune. Of formidable appearance with scales, claws, and horns, the serpentine-shaped beast is benevolent and good.

The phoenix is regarded as an immortal bird whose rare appearance is believed to foreshadow happiness and harmony. According to legend, its flamboyant look features many beautiful feathers.
The dragon and phoenix are often paired to represent the opposing yet complementary forces yin and yang. Said to make up all aspects and phenomena of life, their interaction is believed to maintain balance in the cosmos and everything within it.
The coin’s reverse portrays coloured depictions of a dragon and phoenix circling a flame-fringed pearl, a symbol of wisdom. Other motifs within the design include stylised clouds, omens of peace and luck, and a peony, the flower of wealth and honour.

The obverse portrays the Jody Clark effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination, and 2024 year-date.

No more than 388 of the Dragon And Phoenix 2024 5oz Silver Antiqued Coloured Coin will be released. Elements of this coin have been individually ‘antiqued’ to give them a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact.
